Lore

Produced between 560 and 550 BCE in the region of Laconia, excavated in Cerveteri, Italy, and now housed in the Gregorian Etruscan Museum. The exterior of the cup is painted with black glaze depicting two scenes: one side shows Prometheus stealing fire; the other side depicts Heracles freeing Prometheus. Each drinker, as they tilt the cup, gazes upon the story of the Hero's suffering and liberation painted within.
