Lore

Around 17,000 years ago during the Paleolithic era, humans used a mixture of charcoal and animal marrow as paint to create artwork in the Lascaux Caves in France. When accidentally discovered in 1940, hundreds of paintings of bison, herds of horses, and giant deer inside the cave were still as vibrant as new. A layer of calcium carbonate seeping through the rock walls unexpectedly formed a natural protective film, preserving the paintings to this day.
