Lore

Discovered in 1870 at St. Stephen's Church in northern England, this carving depicts the punishment of the god of deception. Local belief holds that after the gods learned of Loki's role in Balder's death, he was bound to a pillar, with serpent venom dripping onto his face and body as punishment.
