Lore

As early as the 3rd century AD, the Sassanid Empire on the Persian Plateau used a double-knot technique to weave wool carpets, incorporating patterns derived from ancient Persian Zoroastrian symbolism. High-quality plateau wool was selected, and craftsmen hand-tied up to 400 knots per inch. Complex designs often required several years to complete.
