Completed in 1233, this is a commentary on The Tale of Genji by Fujiwara no Teika. A complete manuscript is preserved in the Tokyo National Museum. Genji Monogatari Okugaki is among the earliest surviving annotations on the work, quoting passages from now-lost manuscripts and providing invaluable evidence for later textual restoration.
