Star Savior: Character Development Guide

This guide outlines the optimal path to strengthening your roster. Prioritize Tier 1 before heavily investing in Tier 3 so you don't run out of essential materials.

Tier 1: The Essential Foundation

Everything here lays the groundwork for ATK, survivability, and unlocks. Without this block, late tuning rarely pays off.

1. Level Up & Limit Breakthrough

Level is the main lever for Attack Power (ATK), HP, and Defense (DEF). Certain levels are also required to unlock higher Resonance stages.

Level-up screen: ATK, HP, and DEF increase per level, with gold and manual-style materials as costs
  • Farming: Primary materials come from NOA Support Funds.
  • Level cap: Your maximum level depends on the character's rarity and limit break progress (duplicate copies):

NOA Funding (Support Funds) is the idle system that passively stockpiles gold, operation-style materials, EXP books, and other drops. Its level rises every five cleared Operation stages, which boosts your accumulation rates—claim often so nothing sits capped.

NOA Funding screen: idle timer, per-minute and per-hour rates for gold, operation materials, shards, and EXP books, funding level tied to Operation progress, claim rewards
Operation report–style material: typical mission paperwork drop that feeds leveling and progression
Gold: common currency for leveling and many sinks, including removing engraving from gear
Rarity / Limit break Level upper limit
SSR max (3× limit break) 200
SSR (2× limit break) 180
SSR (1× limit break) 160
SSR (0 limit break) / SR 160
Limit Break: advancing a Savior's break stage fills a star and raises the level ceiling

Each Limit Break increases the level of the Unique Passive skill by 1. A Savior can undergo Limit Break up to 3 times. When obtaining an SR Savior that has completed their Limit Breaks, Observation Reports are received instead of Bond Shards.

2. Starlink: Resource Management

Don't manually level an endless roster. Use Starlink to save massive amounts of materials.

  • Strategy: Level your four main characters (usually those with the most limit break) evenly.
  • Effect: Saviors placed in Starlink slots sync to the lowest level among your four registered mains (the link level). That bypasses natural level caps in practice for many units and lets you funnel NOA Support Funds into those four.

3. Resonance

Resonance boosts General Status and Travel Status (exploration). It's essential for pushing through walls in Relief Journeys.

Resonance Enhancement: journey stats, general stats, required materials, and Savior level gate
  • Level gate: You need specific character levels to unlock higher Resonance stages.
  • Synergy with Starlink: Starlink keeps many units at high level, so you meet Resonance requirements faster without feeding everyone by hand.

Higher resonance ranks consume materials across common → epic rarities—farm steadily so you are not blocked when a new tier opens.

Aether Dust (common) — example resonance upgrade material
Morphing Alloy (uncommon) — example resonance upgrade material
Supernova Fragment I (rare) — example resonance upgrade material
Hyperspace Circuit I (rare) — example resonance upgrade material
Supernova Fragment II (epic) — example resonance upgrade material
Hyperspace Circuit II (epic) — example resonance upgrade material

Tier 2: Specialization & Combat Mastery

4. Equipment & Set Effects

Gear lets you tailor a character to their role: tank, DPS, support, and so on.

  • Acquisition: Clear Candle Square's Subjugation Requests or craft in the Production Workshop.
  • Set effects: Unique (purple) rank and higher can roll random set bonuses. 2-piece or 4-piece sets often beat scattered high-stat pieces.

Set column uses the same six-slot layout as character build pages: Tier 1 icons for each set. Set bonus pool shows which unique-set bonuses can roll on that gear (same icon assets as Sanity starSaviorSubStat / game files under /StarSavior/img/equipments/).

5. Equipment Strengthening & Engraving

  • Strengthening: Use Reinforcement Stones from Subjugation Requests to unlock extra sub-stats.
  • Engraving (+15, Legendary only): Further boosts main stats but locks the gear to that character.

Pro tip: Removing engraving costs gold, but the stat boost is worth it for your main team. Only engrave Legendary gear at +15.

6. Stellar Archive & Arcana

The Stellar Archive grants Potential (buffs) in battle.

  • Relief Journeys: Use Arcana on journeys to trigger events and gain buffs.
  • Potential: Prioritize archive entries that match the character's role to maximize combat value.
Stellar Archive: sigil upgrade flow—fill the slot to advance; ATK, HP, and DEF bonuses apply after the upgrade

7. Skill Development

Skills improve multipliers and reduce cooldowns using materials from the Cube Palace.

Skill enhancement: level-up preview, damage or effect gains, material cost, and enhance action
  • Level 6 milestone: Aim for skill level 6 first.
  • Investment warning: Skill upgrades cannot be reset. Focus 100% of your resources on your four main characters.

Tier 3: Late-Game Advancement

8. Stellar Sigils

SSR Saviors that have completed their Limit Break can undergo Stellar Sigils.

At each Stellar Sigil stage, ATK, HP, and DEF each increase by 2%.

The maximum Stellar Sigil stage for each Savior is shown on their Stellar Sigil screen in-game—you advance along the track until no further sigil upgrades remain.

Stellar Sigil: sigil level increases (e.g. 1 to 2) with ATK, HP, and DEF bonuses

9. Likeability (Affinity)

Lower priority but nice polish: higher likeability gives minor stat boosts and lore. Use it to fine-tune favorites once your main combat stats and farm routes are stable.

Affection details: level progress, additional stats when unlocked, and milestone rewards

Summary Checklist

  • Level four mains to 160+ and Starlink the rest.
  • Unlock Resonance tiers as soon as level requirements are met.
  • Farm Candle Square for matching gear sets.
  • Engrave +15 Legendary gear for your DPS first.
